Add transactions (manually) to savings/investment accounts
I would manually like to add transactions to my savings/investment accounts. * This also includes importing data sets (from csv, or xml files).
Since PSD2 doesn't include savings/investment accounts, it would be nice to have a way of manually adding transactions for my savings/investment accounts.
We’re currently not in favor of allowing users to manually add transactions.
In our research we identified that less than 10 percent of our users would go to the extend of manually adding transactions.
In addition, manual entry could easily lead to serious mistakes. We believe that these mistakes could also be challenging to troubleshoot.
We will park this idea for now. In future, we might revisit this suggestion.
I support this item, but not only for savings accounts, also for more historical data.
I would advice adding a duo tag/label to each record that is imported.
one stating that it's imported by the user
secondly one adding the import sequence (preffered datetime + random nr)
maybe if this is something that is (at this moment) "out scope" for cake,
but if there would be an simple (controllable) api in cake, somebody else could make the parcers...
it benefits cake,
- as the input can be easily validated (you can put strict rules)
- the data model can be controllable for cake
- no development for each bank, account type, ...
- more data ;-)
it benefits the 'hard core' users (10% is a lot ;-) )
and if the community would create an tool, maybe even more than 10% would use it...
suggestion of a simple data model:
- date time
- from account [ IBAN , label ]
- to account [ IBAN, label ]
- currency [ EUR , USD, ... ]
- transaction description
- category [ id of one of cakes transaction category ] (non mandatory)
- location [ to be discussed ] (non mandatory)
would be nice no?

I invest like many others in cryptocurrencies. It would be very helpful to add investment accounts (manually). So it gives you a clear view of your investments that are running.
This could also be interesting for credit cards. Allow users to manually input cc transactions.

Directly connecting with banks is surely a great thing, but for those who are still waiting for their own bank to be connected, another way to fill up the account would be a (temporary) all-purpose backup plan.
MVP Flow is.
Login to my account. Export transactions. Transform to match cake Data model. Import into cake.
Nice to have : Removing duplicates , data field mapping, provide API to automate the import.
Use cases: accounts from banks like Argenta et al, but also
Accounts from Credit card, PayPal, n26, revolut, cash tracking apps (spendee, ynab, ...)
